Phlebotomy technicians are key team members in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and blood donor facilities. Phlebotomy technicians are healthcare specialists that collect patient specimens. They may execute a variety of tasks like venipuncture, micro-collection, and specimen processing and handling while ensuring the safety and confidentiality of the patient. Phlebotomy is performed primarily for diagnosis and monitoring treatment of patients’ diseases and conditions. To be successful in Phlebotomy requires a combination of highly skilled technique, knowledge of the current healthcare environment, and a sympathetic approach to patients of all ages and of various medical conditions.
